Bei seinem ersten Konzertausflug nach Europa seit über acht Jahren verzichtet der weltweit führende Musiksatiriker und fünffache Grammy-Preisträger mit The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour auf seine übliche hochoktanige, großproduzierte Show: Stattdessen bietet er einen intimen Abend mit musikalischer Comedy, der sich auf originale (nicht parodierte) Fan-Favoriten aus seinem 14-Alben-Katalog konzentriert. Die Tournee markiert Weird Al's lang erwartete Rückkehr auf die Weltbühne nach seinen vielen ausverkauften Nordamerika-Tourneen, bei denen er in so kultigen Veranstaltungsorten wie der Radio City Music Hall und dem Forest Hills Stadium aufgetreten ist, und zuletzt im Kennedy Center in Washington DC und der Carnegie Hall in New York City. "Weird Al" Yankovic ist der meistverkaufte Comedy-Künstler aller Zeiten. Ein fünffacher Grammy-Gewinner, war sein 2014 veröffentlichtes Album Mandatory Fun das erste Comedy-Album in der Geschichte, das auf Platz 1 der Billboard Top 200 einstieg. Er ist einer von nur drei Künstlern, die in jedem der letzten vier Jahrzehnte eine eigene Top-40-Single hatten; die anderen beiden sind Michael Jackson und Madonna. Am 27. Eröffnet wird die Show von Al's langjährigem Freund, dem legendären Comedian Emo Philips. Emo Philips hat über 7000 Stand-up-Comedy-Shows auf der ganzen Welt gegeben, darunter eine zweiwöchige Theatervorstellung im Londoner West End. Zu den Höhepunkten seiner Karriere zählen sein hochgelobtes Comedy Album E=MO Squared und das einstündige HBO-Special Emo Philips Live at the Hasty Pudding Theater. Making his first concert excursion across international waters in over eight years, the world’s foremost musical satirist and five-time Grammy-winner foregoes his usual high-octane, big-production show with The Unfortunate Return of the Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour, an intimate evening of musical comedy focusing on original (non-parody) fan favorites from his 14-album catalog. The tour marks Weird Al’s long-anticipated return to the world stage after his many sold-out North American tours, where he has performed at such iconic venues as Radio City Music Hall and Forest Hills Stadium, and most recently at The Kennedy Center in Washington DC and New York City’s Carnegie Hall. This tour is a rare opportunity to get up close and personal with this legendary performer. Opening the show is Al’s long-time friend, the legendary comedian Emo Philips.
