Rosa von Praunheim war schwuler Autor, Produzent, Filmregisseur und Aktivist der LGBTQIA+- Bewegung und drehte zwischen 1968 und 2025 über 150 Kurz- und Langfilme. Am 17.12.25 starb er mit 83 Jahren in Berlin. Drei seiner Filme hat das HIQFF bereits in diesem Jahr im Metropolis Kino gezeigt. Beim HIQFF läuft jetzt Ich Bin Meine Eigene Frau. Film wird Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (1928–2002) porträtiert, die während des Zweiten Weltkriegs als Lothar Berfelde im faschistischen Deutschland aufwuchs. Sie war Gründerin und langjährige Leiterin des Gründerzeitmuseums in Berlin-Mahlsdorf. Von Mahlsdorf bezeichnete sich als Transvestit und als „Frau im Körper eines Mannes“ und benutzte das Pronomen „sie“.
Rosa von Praunheim was a gay writer, producer, film director and activist in the LGBTQIA+ movement, and made over 150 short and feature-length films between 1968 and 2025. He died in Berlin on 17 December 2025 at the age of 83. The HIQFF has already screened three of his films at the Metropolis cinema this year. Ich Bin Meine Eigene Frau is currently screening at the HIQFF. This semi-documentary film portrays Charlotte von Mahlsdorf (1928–2002), who grew up in fascist Germany during the Second World War as Lothar Berfelde. She was the founder and long-standing director of the Gründerzeit Museum in Berlin-Mahlsdorf. Von Mahlsdorf described herself as a transvestite and as a ‘woman in a man’s body’, and used the pronoun ‘she’.
