Luthando ist 17 Jahre alt und geht auf ein Mädcheninternat in Südafrika. Das ist nur möglich, weil sie ein Stipendium erhält. Genauso wichtig wie ihre guten Noten ist dem stillen Bücherwurm ihr Ruf an der Schule, der vor allem davon
abhängt, mit wem man rumhängt. Als Ayanda neu ans Internat kommt, findet sie mit ihrer rebellischen Art direkt Anschluss. Luthando spürt sofort eine Anziehung zu ihr – und schon ist sie Teil von Ayandas Freundeskreis. Aber will sie wirklich nur mit Ayanda und ihrer neuen Clique befreundet sein oder ist da vielleicht mehr? Während Luthando versucht, das herauszufinden, muss sie sowohl den hohen Erwartungen ihrer alleinerziehenden Mutter als auch ihrer
Klassenkamerad*innen gerecht werden.
Luthando is 17 years old and attends a girls’ boarding school in South Africa. This is only possible because she receives a scholarship. Just as important as her good grades to the quiet bookworm Luthando is her reputation at school, which depends above all on who she hangs out with. Then, a new pupil Ayanda, arrives at the boarding school, and, with her rebellious nature, immediately fits right in. Luthando feels an immediate attraction to her – and before she knows it, she’s part of Ayanda’s circle of friends. But does she really want to be friends with Ayanda and her new clique, or is there perhaps more to it? Whilst Luthando tries to figure this out, she juggles the high expectations placed on her – from her single mum and her high standards, as well as from her classmates.
