Die »Goldene Kamera« und der »Grimme-Preis« waren nur die renommiertesten von vielen Auszeichnungen für die vom hr produzierte »Tatort«-Folge »Im Schmerz geboren« (2014) mit Ulrich Tukur als Kommissar Murot. Nun ist der Streifen mit seinem komplett klassischen Soundtrack – vom hr-Sinfonieorchester diesmal live gespielt – auf der großen Leinwand zu erleben.

Die von der Kritik als ein filmisches Meisterwerk gefeierte Episode hat nur wenig mit einem klassischen Fernsehkrimi gemein, steckt dafür aber voller Anspielungen, Zitate und Querverweise mit Bezügen zur Theater- und Filmgeschichte: von Sophokles und Shakespeare über Dürrenmatt, Truffaut und den Italo-Western bis hin zu Tarantino. Diese cineastische Verbeugung vor dem kulturellen Erbe wird durch einen eigentlich naheliegenden und doch besonders geistreich wirkenden Kunstgriff überzeugend abgerundet: Denn der Soundtrack von »Im Schmerz geboren« besteht ausschließlich aus klassischer Musik – von einer berückenden Opern-Arie Händels und einer Klavier-Nocturne von Chopin über Verdis berühmten »Gefangenenchor« aus »Nabucco« bis hin zu Georges Delerues Filmmusik zu »Jules et Jim«. Und sämtliche Aufnahmen für diesen »Tatort« stammen vom hr-Sinfonieorchester – teils aus den Archiven des Hessischen Rundfunks, teils im Rahmen einer Aufnahmesession unter der Leitung des Filmmusik-Experten Frank Strobel im März 2014 im hr-Sendesaal eigens neu eingespielt. In der gleichen Besetzung und am selben Ort erklingen die rund 20 Musik-Ausschnitte bei diesem »Musik und Film«-Konzert live zum Film.

The »Golden Camera« and the »Grimme Award« were just the most prestigious of many awards won by the »Tatort« episode »Im Schmerz geboren« (Born in Pain, 2014), produced by Hessischer Rundfunk, starring Ulrich Tukur as Inspector Murot. The film, with its entirely classical soundtrack – performed live this time by the Frankfurt Radio Symphony – can now be watched on the big screen.

Hailed by critics as a cinematic masterpiece, the episode has little in common with a traditional television crime drama, but is instead brimming with allusions, quotations and cross-references to theatre and film history: from Sophocles and Shakespeare to Dürrenmatt, Truffaut and the Italo-Western, right through to Tarantino. This cinematic homage to cultural heritage is convincingly rounded off by a device that is actually quite obvious yet seems particularly ingenious: For the soundtrack of »Im Schmerz geboren« consists entirely of classical music – from an enchanting opera aria by Handel and a piano nocturne by Chopin, through Verdi’s famous »Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves« from »Nabucco«, to Georges Delerue’s film score for »Jules et Jim«. And the recordings for this »Tatort« episode all come from the Frankfurt Radio Symphony – partly from the archives of Hessischer Rundfunk (HR), and partly newly recorded during a session conducted by film music expert Frank Strobel in March 2014 in the Broadcasting Hall of the HR. With the same line-up and at the same venue, the approximately 20 musical excerpts will be performed live to accompany the film at this »Music and Film« concert.
