hr-Sinfonieorchester Große Reihe

Die »Große Reihe« ist das Herzstück der künstlerischen Arbeit des hr-Sinfonieorchesters. In
ihr präsentiert es anregende Programme, gefeierte Dirigent*innen und Solist*innen,
facettenreiche Programme und erstklassige Interpretationen. In der Spielzeit 2026/27 begrüßt
es dazu als »Artist in Residence« den Klaviervirtuosen Kirill Gerstein. Daneben werden u. a.
Julia Fischer und Augustin Hadelich (Violine), Gautier Capuçon (Violoncello), Pierre-
Laurent Aimard und Bruce Liu (Klavier) sowie eine Reihe hochkarätiger Sänger*innen die
Saison mit ihrer eindrucksvollen Kunst solistisch bereichern.
Chefdirigent Alain Altinoglu wird zudem nicht nur seinen gemeinsamen Schostakowitsch-
Zyklus mit dem hr-Sinfonieorchester fortsetzen, sondern mit Berlioz’ »La damnation de
Faust« und Messiaens »Turangalîla-Sinfonie« auch zwei ganz gewichtige Werke aus seiner
französischen Heimat präsentieren. Altinoglus Vor-Vor-Vorgänger Hugh Wolff greift seinen
einstigen Einsatz für ein historisch informiertes Beethoven-Klangbild in Frankfurt mit der
mächtigen »Missa solemnis« anlässlich Beethovens 200. Todestag wieder auf, und mit
Andrés Orozco-Estrada heißen wir einen weiteren unserer ehemaligen Chefdirigenten erneut
herzlich auf der Bühne willkommen. Abgerundet wird unsere Spielzeit in der Alten Oper
schließlich mit den ersten beiden Mahler-Sinfonien unter der Leitung von Susanna Mälkki
und Philippe Jordan.

The “Große Reihe“ (Grand Series) is the centrepiece of the hr-Sinfonieorchester’s artistic
work. It presents stimulating programmes, celebrated conductors and soloists, multifaceted
programmes and first-class interpretations. In the 2026/27 season, it will welcome piano
virtuoso Kirill Gerstein as its Artist in Residence. In addition, Julia Fischer and Augustin
Hadelich (violin), Gautier Capuçon (cello), Pierre-Laurent Aimard and Bruce Liu (piano), as
well as a number of top-class singers, will enrich the season with their impressive artistry as
soloists.
Principal conductor Alain Altinoglu will not only continue his Shostakovich cycle with the
Frankfurt Radio Symphony, but will also present two very important works from his French
homeland: Berlioz’s »La damnation de Faust« and Messiaen’s »Turangalîla Symphony«. One
of Altinoglu’s predecessors Hugh Wolff will resume his former commitment to a historically
informed Beethoven sound in Frankfurt with the powerful »Missa solemnis« to celebrate the
200th anniversary of Beethoven death, and with Andrés Orozco-Estrada we once again
warmly welcome another of our former Music Directors back to the stage. Our season at the
Alte Oper will be rounded off with the first two Mahler symphonies conducted by Susanna
Mälkki and Philippe Jordan.
